One of our top logo designers, Nafisaparween, shares with us how she got started at 48HoursLogo.com, her artistic influences, and what unique super power she would love to have!
This week I’ve taken some time to sit down and with Nafisa, or as we know in the Designer Hall, Nafisaparween. Growing up in the small town of Chandanangar, this once French Colony is 30 KMS from Kolkata in Eastern India. Nafisa is fluent in Hindi, Bengali, and English. Amazingly, she has stopped growing older at 25 years of age! She has over 125 Contest wins to date. Through it all she would like to be known as an original, minimalist, creative designer.
Though her portfolio has a nice variety of styles, you’ll quickly notice that Nafisa has captured a fun and whimsical approach to many of her logo designs.

Hello Nafisa! Thank you for your time today. Tell us a little bit about yourself, are you married? Do you have any children?
Yes, I am married to my fourth husband now. The first was music, the second was art, and the third was nature! Luckily all are in good health. I do have children, but not at home anymore. I would like to adopt one soon.
With those husbands you seem to be a woman of many talents!
What specific hobbies to you have outside of designing?
I try out photography, music, sketching, and handicraft. I do not play any instruments or sing, like many I’m more of a bathroom singer. But I love vocal music. I like instruments like the sitar, guitar, santoor. I had a great interest in learning music but it never happened.
Can you share with me a few of your favorite things?
Teddy Bears, Mini Dolls, anything small and cute.
What is one of your least favorite things?
Washing dishes and utensils.
Let’s say you’ve been offered one super power, what would you choose for yourself?
A pair of magic shoes that could take me anywhere, a-n-y-w-h-e-r-e, I wish! I would like to be in nature, far and near. Snowy mountains, rippling creeks, roaring seas, thick green forests, velvety green valleys, un-named tiny flower on grass – all of these are my favorite things. I would love to be there to dip my feet in the river. I want to stand on the mountain and shout out loud! I want to roll myself on the lush green slope.
Do you have any “Shoutouts” you would like to give?
“Hey World, open your eyes, know the reality.”
NAFISA ON DESIGN
Tell us a bit of your history as a designer.
I am self taught, and I’ve been a graphic artist for over seven years now.
What are some of your artistic influences?
I started scribbling at a very early age. The life around, the people visiting our house and my father’s small furniture shop, dogs and cows on the road, the river ganga and old trees on the bank of it… all these influenced me and somehow made me imitate those on white papers.
Name your Top 3 Fonts and what you love about them. Go!
- Trajan
- Tw Cen
- Din
I love the elegance, class, smartness, and compact look of those fonts.
Do you have any favorite logo designs that you’ve submitted through 48HoursLogo.com?
Hippy Hounds. It is minimal, clever, and simple. That’s what I like in a creation.
*check out Nafisa’s sketch of the Hippy Hounds design on our Facebook Page.
What advice would you give to other designers trying to find success like you have?
Be original. You are different.
Is there anything you think about when starting to design a logo?
I can see it finished though my “third eye.”
Are there any existing logos out there that you would like to redesign or update?
Adidas. I do respect the design and history behind the modern Adidas logo. Since 1967 it has gone through three changes only. But the brand has not changed itself to stay at the top. The trefoil pointed sports shoe, which was the main product of Adidas then, has expanded and now they sell many things from sports accessories, to clothing, body care, fashion, and many more modern concepts. From a designers point of view, there is a scope of change. A new identity should signify that, more than just the shoe side. But once again, I am just nothing before the greatness of the brand and it’s charisma.
NAFISA ON 48HOURSLOGO.COM
What did you do before joining 48HoursLogo.com?
Textile Designing. I have enjoyed the creative part of textile designing. I had to study, research, and understand the trend for it. Knowing screen printing through such a close experience was an awesome thing for me.
How did you find 48HoursLogo.com?
My husband introduced me to it. My first submission, Sinus Solar, won the contest and that was the beginning of this long relationship! I’ve been a designer here since 2010, so four years now.
Why do you prefer to work though 48HoursLogo.com over other websites?
48HoursLogo.com appears friendlier. With the Admins and the co-designers here I feel like a big family. This was missing from other sites.
In your opinion, what is special about 48HoursLogo.com?
From beginning to end, the contests are transparent and understandable. On every single issue fellow designers and admins help like close friends. This is just awesome to me.
How has your life changed since joining up with our site?
It’s given me many things. I have confidence. I could chisel my skills here. Above all, I get to do what I want to do.
