In this post we’ll continue to look at Contest Winning Logos and dissecting their strengths. What about their design gives them an edge? Why did that logo stand out amongst its competition? How does it tie to the industry it represents? We’ll answer these questions and more as we look at 18 unique technology logos.
Technology itself can be a broad field, so we will be looking at logos that represent data analysis, app development, software outsourcing, IT solutions bloggers, and even technology trade shows! They all are tied together by a spirit of making the most of the latest technologies and pushing other technologies even further. Many of these designs add a touch of motion to give the illusion of taking their businesses and clients forward. All of them come from the 48HoursLogo.com Technology Industry Portfolio.
Remember that this isn’t just an inspirational list, but it can be a tool you can use to help organize what design elements might make your new business’ logo stronger. Either way, I’m sure these logo will encourage and impress.

0db Pro Audio Solutions | by prodesign
This company started with no name, only a couple of suggestions to work with. They were starting a professional audio company that offers sales of new and used music instruments, equipment, and more. Open to new ideas, they wanted a design that was simple, modern, and included a symbol that alluded to the musical nature of their business. One idea they liked, and can be seen in the winning logo, was using 0 (zero) with db (decibel) for the name and the tagline “Pro Audio Solutions.” They come together clean and clear in this design, emboldened by the black, white, and red color combination.
adora myers | by nDmB original
Adora is a blogger looking to share her opinions and experiences through adoramyers.com. Her logo would represent her as a personal mark. Very open to all designs, she had lot of great submission and gave glowing feedback. The design she chose shows her initials as one icon, with a red “A” standing out from the “M.” Her name is displayed in a professionally trendy way, all lowercase, no space, and with contrasting letter stroke.
AveAlto | by Coolwanz
A very innovative product, AveAlto has developed a High Altitude Platform that sits stationary at 100,000 feet as a communication platform. Their trademark “V” shape would help make a very recognizable logo against the backdrop of the Earth. The “V” is pointing forward, which suggests motion and movement. Also in western cultures, the direction of right is associated with the future and progress. Adding the little sun on the left of the arch makes it clear that this is definitely a planet.
Cryptic Pigeon | by Mbok Sum
This company offers a fully encrypted messaging system for smart phones. 3D styles, messages, envelopes, and pigeons were all appealing ideas to the client. This logo couples a “message” icon with a graphic pigeon. The folds the the pigeon give it depth, but also use straight lines which help allude to the technical side of the business. Orange and blue are complimentary colors (across from one another on the color wheel), creating an attractive design.
Exavitech | by jaize
Exavitech provides IT consulting and training along with software development services. They desired a logo that was corporate, serious, and a little catchy. Using the little computer nodes reaching inside the mind of the silhouette works very well for the training side of things. It visual represents connecting, teaching, thinking about IT related subjects. The head titling up also give the impression of enlightenment. Combined with the futuristic font, this logo has a lot of nuances that make it great.
Hollis Services | by karjen
HS works on all types of computer repairs and IT work including Apple iPhones, iPads, and iPods. They were particularly drawn to logos that creatively feature the initials of the company. The “S” can be seen in the icon, cutting into the black and red blocks and creating a stylized “H.” Plus by turning the “O” in “Hollis” into a power symbol helps views identify this as a tech company.
IV Technologies | by jaize
IVT is in the business of computer consulting, server implementation, and IT services. In their logo they wanted to combine the image of a medical “IV” to a server or computer. In this clever illustration, you can clearly see the tower is connected to the IV bag, with the monitor displaying a heart rate line. The image directly states “technology aid” to the viewers. Interesting movement is created by having the bag’s line curve behind the tower and monitor, connecting in the front.
Marine Technology Showcase | by Ajan
A strong favorite in February 2014’s Logo of the Month contest, the Marine Technology Showcase logo is highly detailed. Designed for the first annual event showcasing in Oregon, this logo would be on t-shirts, posters, and all promotional material. They wanted to combine a steampunk aesthetic with ocean waves. The detail added to the initials is very impressive, using gears, chains, and rebar to achieve the steampunk look. The clean break of the waves and the light blue tint are a great illustration of the aquatic nature of the event.
Red Giraffe Labs | by Razzi
RGL is a cyber security company whose focus is on training clients to detect and respond to cyber intrusions. They were looking for a logo that was simple, futuristic, and had a slightly fun twist. The inclusion of beakers, test tubes, and a giraffe were requested. The icon is especially unique, combining a literal “red giraffe” with a folded angle to create the illusion of a beaker.
Respondr | by bungpunk
Highsend was going through a complete rebrand, including the name. It was all heading towards a high-tech and extremely modern looking startup. As a business they help businesses to leverage web and mobile analytics to respond to customers in a highly personalized way. What I love about this logo is how it message box in the icon is skewed. It give the logo some dimension. The little touches of red draw attention to the increase of the bars (representing sales). Lastly italicizing the logo makes it look like they’re ready to jump into action.
Revell | by haze
A technology company, Revell was looking for something slightly cosmic for a logo. The strength of this design is how the two spheres and their orbit interact with futuristic font of the company name. Connecting as part of the “V” gives the orbit an element of inclusion, plus it cuts off the “E” beside it. By tapering the orbit behind the “R” and coming back around adds an element of depth.
Second Sight Data Analysis | by Gery
This startup company provides data analysis for large enterprise companies. They also monitor software use so CIOs and IT Managers know which Software Development Company packages to purchase for their teams. Design wise SecondSight was open to colors, but wanted something in san serifed or italic fonts. Notice how the circles seem to be honing in on data. Leaving out the space between the “d” and “S,” but separating them with color is a great effect.
Serene Apps | by tinycreatives
A self-described “scientist with a spiritual side,” Serene Apps was created as a mobile app development business. The client wanted to avoid angular fonts and was open to the inclusion of dragonflies. Open to all colors, but specifically enjoyed greens, purples, blues, and pinks. The first thing I notice about the logo is how the dragonfly wings break out of the box. I believe this speaks well visually to the juxtaposition of “spiritual scientist.” It’s unexpected and unique. The colors used are beautiful, with the blues, greens, and purples having a calming effect.
Sunglow IT | by catalin
From Mooresville, NC, Sunglow IT is a local computer repair and technology solutions startup. Looking for something simple and iconic in a logo design, they flirted with the idea of sunrises, horizons, and anything tech oriented. The negative space used to create the sun rays combined with the subtle gradient make a powerful icon alone. The addition of the two squares help identity it with data and technology. Finally, the blue/grey/white color combination is always viewed as classy/professional in the tech industry.
Swan Cloud | by vicafo
SC offers IT cloud solutions to their customers. In the additional design inspirations they included a photograph they loved of a stretch of clouds that creatively took the shape of a swan. They wanted to transfer this idea into their logo. The winning design has a swan flying gracefully out of the cloud graphic, but still connected to it via the shape in the lower left. Using just white for the logo on a royal blue background makes it look strong and pure.
Techfye | by andres
Techfye is a technology review media outlet on YouTube that films reviews, unboxings, and tutorials of consumer electronics. They really seemed to love the blueprint idea, with letters that were sketched out and their boundary lines shown. It really takes to viewer back to the idea of explaining how something works, as in the tutorials they show. The design is enhanced with a sharply rendered pencil.
Technodroid | by firstmove
This computer store sells consumer electronics, tablets, phones, and security systems with a female audience in mind. They wanted a logo designed that emphasized “family safety” being a priority. This was achieved with the use of a shield. The initials visually connect with the shield through the nodes on the sides. The font used is clean and sci-fi, very fitting for a technology store. Finally, combining purple with the black is attractive and should catch the attention of tech-savy females.
Ummercial | by ekitessar
A startup company that specialized in video resumes. The aim to be the premier destination for job seekers looking for a powerful personal brochure. In this logo we have a strong “U” icon. The left stem of the “U” twists out into a film strip, great idea. Plus the “Play” symbol attached to the “U” easily identifies this as a video-related company. The yellow nicely compliments the black, a great professional color combination.
BONUS:
I wanted to include these two logos, QA Geek by alidaghlas and Uneekly Web Solutions by open your mind. I think they both look great, and show opposite ends of the spectrum. QA Geek is neon, electric, and highly stylized. Uneekly Web Solutions is black and white, but with a creative way to show the lightbulb and combined with a web symbol, the cursor.
