There are so many contests started and completed each day that some can get lost in the mix! I don’t want you to miss a great looking design, so in this post I’m sharing my most favorite logo designs from May, 2014.
I’m going to take a more candid look at some logo designs that came out of 48HoursLogo.com this past May. These are my personal picks of designs that I want to make sure you see. I’ll be discussing why they stand out, what specifically makes them impressive designs, and how to read into what they represent. A little bit of design psychology, I guess you could say.
I’ve left a few out because they’re covered in previous posts, like in 20 Cool Restaurant Logos post, or some you can find for yourself in the 48HoursLogo Portfolio. Feel free to disagree, I’m open to suggestion and love talking about logos so I would be thrilled to hear your opinions in the comments section below. So let’s dive right in and take a look and what I consider, some of the best design work coming out of 48HoursLogo.com from May, 2014.

Carpe Diem Diving | by jaize
Let me tell you why this works so well. First of all, the blue on white color combination is gorgeous for aquatic themed logos. It reminds me of two things, when visiting the ocean I remember the deep blue sea and white sea foam, and in college when studying the Mediterranean in art history, a lot of their pottery was a creamy white with blue. More importantly – the stingray! It has a beautiful tribal pattern in the silhouette. Giving the far back fin its own gradient makes the stingrays’ shape even more obvious.
Colossal Consulting | by brandminded
This logo design is fun. The orange/grey combo work great for modern, technology related businesses. The duel word bubble reads collaboration to me, like a discussion. Which works great because Colossal Consulting provides IT services to small and medium businesses. You can tell the people in the world bubbles are professionals due to their ties. They look attentive and ready to serve. The bonus detail in the “A” of Colossal adds a nice touch.
CrossRoads OC | by Mbok Sum
I favor this design because the shape of the guitar is worked in without being too intrusive. The red and grey color combo look great together, adding some contrast this band was looking for. The head of the guitar is nicely stylized, with the shape and contrasting depth of the lines. To finish it off, it has a nice banner on the bottom to contain “oc.” All together I think creates a great logo for the 70’s Cover Rock Band.
A Diva Difference | by fornarel
This image makes me think of motherhood and paternity. The silhouette as the inside hole of the D is an inspired choice, I love it. The kicker is the way the D curves down and to the left, as if hair over the shoulder of a mother. Using the deep purple gives this design elegance. Which is appropriate, because they make a variety of home products like baby toys, pet supplies, and kitchen utensils all around the “Diva” theme.
D’licious | by Avatar
Don’t tell my wife, but I could kiss this logo, and yes, I would get some tongue! Seriously though, it’s a great illustration of a tongue connected to brightly colored letters. It screams young, fun, and because of the word, I assume food or treat oriented. The client does in fact, sell sweet stuff through D’licious. This logo hits the target audience square in the sweet spot.
GT Action Outreach | by joyz4
This logo made the list all because of the tree. The different green colors are interesting, and at first look like painted dabs, which would be cool. But on second glance, you start to notice heads in the trees! It gives a powerful symbol as if a community comes together to better society. Which incidentally is what they do, helping teens get involved in projects such as feeding the hungry, caring for animals, teaching adults who can’t read, and so on.
Inked Genius Clothing | by usef44
What I love about this logo is that it catches onto that modern, hipster vibe without using all the design cliches’ associated with hipster logos (check out our info graphic on Logo Cliches’ to make sure your logo doesn’t fall into one!). The Owl is simple, but with enough detail to be cool and smart looking. I like that the glasses and bow tie are the only reds in the design, that really makes them stand out. Speaking of the bow tie, did you see it’s made from the initials “I” and “G”? Pretty cool, huh?
Le Chablais-Scope | by sgt. trigger
This was one of the largest prized contests I’ve ever seen on 48HoursLogo.com, and deservedly so. The Chablais-Scope is a large, complex, moving sculpture with many intricate tools and parts working in sync together. So large, in fact, that it’s contained on a moving train car. This logo works so well because the font used is fun and bold, with a bit of whimsy. The gears, tubes, and various parts interact beautifully as a background element wrapped with the grey outline around the black behind the name.
Magellan Productions | by Cyds
This logo says exactly what the company is, named after the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, they created story-like commercials for businesses and companies. I easily read the triangle as a boat coasting on the top of the water. The reflection of the icon is also reminiscent of the sea. Including the stars, while extra information, tell me the boat is on a journey, that we’re in the middle of their story. The background is a film strip, telling you where their stories take place (on camera). All together it tells so much about the company in one icon.
SportQB | by griphon
The stand out feature of this design is its depth. You know this is a sports shield, but at this angle it looks to be delivered to you, like a pizza, or perhaps someone sliding into home plate. The shading of the colors, particularly the greens, strength the illusion of depth. I really like how griphon was able to work in the banner for “The Play Cube” without diminishing the readability of the “QB.” Very well executed.
TowardZest | by megalogos
This logo’s strength is in it’s smile. Well, the Lime icon that alludes to happy, open mouth. For a health living company this fits well. The stylization is well done, with the upper left line of the Lime coming out a little to far, making it seem care-free. Plus the two greens for in the Lime work great together separating the name.
Wellomics | by VhienceFX
This logo is great because without knowing what the company does, I can already tell it’s pharmaceutical in nature. The purple/orange color combination is fun and welcoming. Having the name and tagline in solid white gives it a stark, clinical feel. Plus the icon is a nice combination of the W and M. It has a sparky, metabolic vibe to it. I can already see this on my TV in commercials with families playing, chasing the dog, all because their lives were made better through Wellomics.
