please note: HomeServices.MN (added "s"). Purpose of business is to support the local contractor or trades person. Many home owners are tired of searching for a home service and ending up on some national web site (yellow pages, manta, etc.) with no participating vendors, so you end up with someone an hour away who pays for advertising. So you start your search again.... This will be a community service and will be partnering with some other good housing/home/family cause organizations (for example: Habitat for Humanity, etc.). The site is a robust and strong business directory which will allow homeowners access into the local talent pool, the guy down the street, Joe the plumber, etc. (no Home Depot Service on this site!). Individual and business listings on this site will all focus on HOME maintenance, enhancement, repair and improvement providers. Major categories of vendors will be Exterior, Interior, Lawn and Garden, Electronic & Technology, Additions/Remodeling, Utility/Appliances, Finance/Insurance. Membership and enhancement of their business listing will be free, with misc. fees after a year or so.... Motivation for the enhancement of there listing information beyond name, address, phone, contact, is the SEO value in adding: website links, about us content, photo/video, etc. (much like a mini-website for each). Future revenue will be derived from priority listings within categories, offer special deals, jobs ads, etc., with net proceeds going to local non-profit(s). The .MN vs. a .com is based on it being in Minnesota (MN) and thought we'd have some fun with that. Step one is to develop this site in one specific region in the state before possibly rolling out to other potential regions. Important to create value in home owners' knowing who they can call on locally to perform various household and home services. As the world has gone to "big box stores", so has much of the home services. Value should be mutual with both the public (home owners) and service providers.

    Have fun with it. 2 possible key communication items are that the region is most commonly refered to as "The Lakes Area", and its important to stress "Support Locals". So maybe a tag line along the lines of: "Support Local Lakes Area Home Service Providers" A little worried about "HomeService.MN" coming off to dry and sounding like its offered by the local power company or an appliance warranty company... So have fun and communicate Services which may prompt your design thoughts: Plumbing, Electrical, Lawn Care, Snow Removal, Home Automation, Carpentry, Roofing, Floor Covering, Kitchens, Bathrooms, Heating, Air Conditioning, etc...
