With the original name being "Giving The Gospel", I think focusing less on the religious side may help to appeal to a potential broader audience for providing donations. 
For the logo, I envision the base being an open book, with an abstract outline of a Florida city sitting on top of the open pages ... the buildings/skyline could include such as houses, church, hospital, library, market, fire station, etc. 
I would go with bright primary colors, white background ... blue, green, red, purple, yellow, orange. 
If possible to incorporate the letters GTG somewhere in the in the city skyline of the buildings would be great.
