- Logo Name:
- East End Festival
- Company Intro:
- the east end festival is a new cultural and arts festival targeting a specific neighborhood in austin, tx. prior to the 1990s, the neighborhood was predominately black and latino neighborhood. since the late 1990s, gentrification has over taken the neighborhood and it is now being rapidly transformed into an expensive urban neighborhood. the current colloquial term for the area is east austin. we are looking to re-brand the name to the east end. the neighborhood is directly east of downtown and has amazing downtown views. the challenge we are looking to address with the festival (and needs to be reflected in the logo) is to attempt to acknowledged the history and reverence of the previous generations, while at the same time appealing to the growing predominately young wealthy and white population growing in the neighborhood. the new york times wrote a story capturing the neighborhood: https://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/02/travel/eclectic-east-austin.html
- Instructions:
- the festival atmosphere will be fun and very family friendly open to all racial and economic demographics. it will be a street festival with food and unique art vendors. there will be multiple music stages with several different genres of music. looking for a sleek, colorful and energetic design that would translate really well onto merchandize. a logo that is cool and sexy enough that you would wear it on a hat or tshirt even if you have never been to the festival. art. music. food. are the 3 primary elements of the festival.
